Good morning everyone! It’s the last day of 2020, and we here at DPP refuse to say goodbye to 2020 without highlighting some of the silver linings of the worst year ever. Let’s get right to it! 2020 Saved A Lot of Animals The sheer number of folks stuck at home alone was astronomical this year. Lock-downs, self-quarantines, and safer-at-home orders had everyone itching for a companion, and many of those folks turned to their local shelter.  The number of pets adopted this year left many shelters completely empty, a good problem to have, as shelters are mostly funded by donations and run by volunteers. Shelter intake is also down 24% compared to 2019. The influx of dog and cat adoptions also lead to some big numbers for the pet industry, with Chewy’s stock continually rising, PetCo’s IPO filing, and BarkBox making moves towards going public as well. The Work-From-Home Revolution Working from home used to be an exception to the rule, being reserved for sick-days and emergency situations, but 2020 showed us that working from home is really no big deal. Pre-pandemic, an estimated 3.4% of the US workers were allowed to work from home; post-pandemic that number shot to 42%. Companies have discovered that people don’t really need to be in an office to be productive. Several large firms like Twitter and Google have already announced work-from-home as permanent options for employees. Allowing companies to work from home also cuts down on overhead costs, which is good news for any company’s bottom dollar. For Better or Worse Families have been put into a position where they have to be together. A LOT! This has certainly been a struggle for some, but it has also been a blessing in disguise for many. You can only be annoyed at your child's/spouse’s dirty socks on the floor for so long before it becomes an endearing event that turns into a playful joke that everybody giggles at and the socks eventually get picked up and put in the hamper. It is these small events in our lives that remind us of who we love and that love knows no limits… because those limits have certainly been tested... The best advice I can give right now for conquering 2021 is to finish 2020 strong! Let's be honest: there's no predicting what 2021 can bring. Did you see any of this nonsense coming this year? Of course not. All you can control is what is right in front of you. So do what you can to succeed today and worry about January when January gets here. Earlier this week, I went LIVE for the last time this year. I taught a bunch of what I think are very important trading lessons, including seven of my rules for trading and life. I also taught one of my favorite strategies for a bear market and my favorite strategy for a bull market, just because I'm ready to prepare for anything 2021 throws at me. You can catch a replay and learn all that for a limited time. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
