Story of the Day
[Another year, another Marikana commemoration â but betrayal, neglect and injustice are still there](
By Greg Nicolson, Chanel Retief and Yanga Sibembe
âThey say in this country weâre free, but only some are free, others are not. A policeman has the power to kill and itâs not a big deal. Justice is not a real thing. I have not seen it.â

[North Korea rejects talks, fires missiles](
Pyongyang threw its toys out the sand pit on Friday, firing off two missiles of unknown strength and cancelling talks with South Korea. The north criticised South Korean President Moon Jae-In's Liberation Day speech, adding that it no longer had anything to say to them. These are world leaders, not toddlers, apparently.
[Israel bows to Trump, bars Democratic visit](
Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar have been barred from making a trip to Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the call moments after Donald Trump literally called him asking for their travel to be rejected. Considering both Trump and Netanyahu have an election on soon, banning Muslim women from visiting Israel should help boost the crazier side of their conservative support bases.
[Kyrgios hit with fine for outburst](
Australian firebrand tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios has been fined $113,000 for an angry rant at the Cincinnati Masters. Kyrgios argued loudly with the umpire and smashed several rackets. Kyrgios believed that the umpire had started the shot clock early and left the court for a "bathroom break" despite no permission to do so. He smashed a racket on the way to the loo, though.
[Ed Sheeran's tomato sauce bottles sell for stupid money](
Ed Sheeran's tattoos have sold for thousands of pounds. The first three bottles of tomato sauce emblazoned with the singer's ink went under the hammer in London on Thursday. The Heinz bottles sold in a not-so-gingerly 3,600 pound flurry. Money well spent, for someone anyway...

Imagine a world not fully appreciated through oneâs hearing. So much joy is experienced through sound: The delight of childrenâs laughter, your baby's first words, a conversation around the table with close friends or a romantic dinner for two.
