Story of the Day
[Cash cows and computers â Ace Magashuleâs laptop deals with Guptasâ Vrede dairy man; Joemat-Petterssonâs Saxonwold meetings](
By Pieter-Louis Myburgh
#GuptaLeaks info implicates ANC Secretary-General in a computer deal that ran parallel to the Vrede dairy scam. The documents also suggest then national agriculture minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson played a role, while then provincial agriculture MEC Mosebenzi Zwane and other government officials repeatedly met with one of the Gupta brothers at key junctures during the roll-out of the infamous project. Our investigation connects new dots in one of South Africa's most sordid corruption sagas.

[US sends legal broadside against big tech](
The United States Justice Department has opened a massive antitrust probe against all major online tech companies. The DOJ is investigating whether these behemoths were actively sabotaging competition. Amazon.com Inc, Alphabet Inc's Google, Apple Inc and Facebook Inc all declined to comment. No doubt a comment will be supplied once names are named.
[Trump sues to block tax returns](
House Democrats are clearly plucking at a raw nerve. President Donald Trump took the House to court to prevent New York State from releasing his tax returns. US presidents are not required to disclose their tax information. Trump would be the first president since Richard Nixon not to, however.
[Bale makes triumphant return](
Real Madrid's Gareth Bale saw a return to form last night, scoring one of two goals to bring them to a 2-2 draw against Arsenal. Two early first-half goals and the sending off of Real's Nacho cast doubt on the outcome. However, both Bale and Marco Asensio managed respective goals within three minutes in the second half to bring the International Champions Cup game back to all square.
[Nike shoes auction for record sum](
A 1972 pair of shoes have sold on auction for $437,500 today. In the shoe's defence, they were one of the original pairs of Nike "Moon Shoes" to ever go on sale. The sale was part of a sneaker-focused auction by Sotheby's. Ninety nine other items were all purchased in a single go for $850,000 from a Canadian car collector. Perhaps it's time to hold on to those foil Pokemon cards in your bottom drawer.
