Story of the Day
[Fuel most Foul: The Purgatory Times for Sasol and other oil majors](
By Kevin Bloom
As the ravages of climate breakdown barrel at exponential speeds across the planet, the fossil fuel conglomerates are facing unprecedented pushback. The anger is mostly coming from teenagers, who will bear the brunt of the devastation. [Democratic debate gets preachy](
A crowded first debate with 10 candidates saw a lot of promises and plans being bandied about. Immigration, healthcare, the border: all topics were carpet-bombed with new policy proposals and Mr Fixit ideas. The start of a very packed primary run was essentially a foreshadowing of what's to come in 2020.
[New 737 MAX flaw identified](
The un-grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX could take longer than initially anticipated. US Federal Aviation Administration officials revealed that they had isolated another problem in the aircraft. Speaking on Fox (where else), Trump grumbled: âYou know, look, we should be suing Google and Facebook and all that, which perhaps we will, okay." Just what he would sue them for, per se, was not explained.
[15 killed in Madagascar stampede](
At least 75 people were wounded and 15 killed in a stadium stampede in Madagascar's capital. The Antananarivo stadium had been hosting a military parade. Officials were unsure of the stampede's cause, but eyewitnesses reported a massive crush of people attempting to move through the single door made open for the event.
