[Click here for the web version of this email]( [Daily Maverick] We’re On A Mission To Help Rebuild South Africa Dear {NAME}, The elections are over (communal sigh of relief). Over the May 8/9, Daily Maverick had a record number of visitors to our site: 319,000. This was possible because we didn’t have a paywall in place - thanks to the support of Maverick Insiders. South Africa is at a crossroads. On the side of a cliff. With the galeforce wind of cynicism threatening to push us over the edge. These next five years will determine the future of our country for generations to come. It's time every South African digs in and helps pull the country back from the precipice. It's time for hope. And action. Daily Maverick is on a mission to help Rebuild South Africa and we need your help. This motive extends beyond just continuing with our journalism; we want to increase the search for workable solutions, hold events that encourage and inspire our readers and the country as a whole to do what they can to contribute to this mission. Efforts that will hopefully result in a constructive impact. It’s time for every citizen to speak up when you see corruption, to turn up when there’s a march against those who have ulterior motives to the betterment of the country and to contribute in your day-to-day lives (however big or small that may be). It’s time for us all to do more. Independent journalism is the first line of defence against corruption. We’ve seen over the last ten years how our investigations can result in real change. We aim to hold truth to power. To Defend Truth. ‘We’ no longer means just those in the Daily Maverick offices or our journalists out on the field. Maverick Insiders ARE our community - they support us daily through financial contributions (every bit of which is used to employ more journalists and fund our investigations), they support us by spreading the word of our endeavours and they support us through their words and actions of encouragement on those darker days. By becoming a Maverick Insider, you’re becoming part of the solution. You can s[ign up here.]( Team DM [FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO A FRIEND]( Copyright © 2019 Daily Maverick, All rights reserved.
