[Uneasy truce falls over Gaza-Israel flashpoint](
A weekend flare-up of violence following several rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel has resulted in a truce. For now. Israeli forces retaliated to the rocket attacks, which had killed four civilians, with their own strikes. Nineteen Palestinians were killed thereafter. Whether the truce will hold waits to be seen.
[Cyclone Fani kills 33](
At least 33 people have been killed as a result of the destructive Cyclone Fani that hit north eastern India. Millions of local residents were spared from harm, however, due to a massive evacuation campaign that preceded the storm. Property and general damage has been estimated to have cost a hefty $173.7 million.
[City Press journalist killed over weekend](
Ngwako Modjadji, a journalist with the City Press, has been killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident. Modjadji had worked for the Sowean and Citizen before. The journalist was killed in Soweto, a tragedy which Sanef termed deeply saddening.
[Trump returns to China trade war-talk](
Donald Trump has vowed to impose further tariffs on at least $200 billion worth of goods from China. The news came despite earlier indications of negotiations progress on Friday. Now, in retaliation, China has suggested it may cancel talks altogether.
