Until Thursday 2 April 2019, Colonel Navin Madhoe had been regularly clocking in at his SAPS office despite being fingered for playing a lead role in enabling about R61m in alleged corrupt deals linked to Zuma-connected KwaZulu-Natal businessman Thoshan Panday, as well as various other senior SAPS officials and prosecutors in the region and beyond.

[Cholera outbreak announced in Mozambique](
Mozambican authorities have officially declared an outbreak of cholera in the north. The devastation of Cyclone Kenneth has killed at least 41 since last week. Health officials and aid agencies had scrambled to prevent a similar outbreak after Cyclone Idai last month. This time, further north in Cabo Delgado, however, the infectious disease has taken hold.
[Facebook bans far-right figureheads](
Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos and Laura Loomer are among some of the rogue's gallery of hate speech-fuelled polemics now banned from Facebook. The social media giant stated that the measure was taken as a result of the individuals violating their rules on spreading hate speech and inciting violence. Often criticised for failing to take action against the far-right, Facebook appeared to be taking the offensive.
[Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew dies](
The British actor who played Chewbacca in five of the Star Wars movies, has died. Peter Mayhew passed away at his Texas home. No cause of death was provided to the media. Mayhew had played Chewbacca as late as the 2015 film "The Force Awakens", recovering from being wheelchair-bound for the role.
[Study shows ARVs effective in stopping HIV transmission](
A new study published in Lancet has revealed that taking antiretrovirals can prove highly effective in stopping the transmission of HIV altogether. The study of almost 1,000 gay men noted that, in all cases where one HIV positive partner was taking ARVs, the transmission of the virus to their HIV negative partner did not occur. At all. One of the professors of the study hailed this as a step towards ending transmission of the virus in high-risk populations.
