[Click here for the web version of this email]( [Daily Maverick] Wednesday, 10 April 2019 While You Were Working [ANCYL forced to about-face on book-burning plans]( The ANCYL has retracted its plans to continue a campaign of book-burning and general outrage over Pieter-Louis Myburgh's Gangster State – Unravelling Ace Magashule’s Web of Capture. The ANCYL in the Free State had vowed to block the book's sales and burn copies in the Free State. The ANC and a host of affiliated organisations were quick to condemn Tuesday night's disruption of the Johannesburg launch. Cold water on the book burning was likewise poured on by the ruling party. The ANCYL's attempt at pseudo-fascism firmly squashed. For now. [Seventeen arrested over Cape Town violence]( At least 17 people were in police custody today over public violence in Blackheath. The group are suspected of allegedly throwing petrol bombs in the area. Rawula accused Julius Malema and VBS Platinum card holder Floyd Shivambu of rampant financial mismanagement. Rawula was demanding the party's audited bank statements. The EFF, it seems, are not so keen to release them. [Zimbabwe wants to scrap 51% local owned mine laws]( The Zimbabwean Chamber of Mines has revealed today that it plans to utterly remove the 51% local black Zimbabwean ownership requirement on its mines.
