Former Correctional Services chief financial officer Patrick Gillingham had such cosy ties with Bosasa that the company arranged the purchases of five different cars for him, his wife and two of his children over several years, the State Capture inquiry heard on Wednesday.

After all the British parliamentary theatrics, the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker stated that "this is not a game". May wants an emergency summit, while Brussels has pointed out that it is in absolutely no hurry, pointing to a scheduled meeting in late March as a possible date.
[Polar vortex hits US Midwest](
Temperatures of -41C and wind chill of -64C have been recorded in some parts of the Midwest as the polar vortex sliced through the United States. At least seven people have died in the cold snap so far, while farmers have been battling through the night to ensure livestock health amidst the plummeting mercury. On a lighter note, the McClean Police Department announced via a Tweet that Elsa (from Frozen) had been arrested with no bond "until further notice".
[Facebook loses Apple data rights](
Apple has revoked many testing services made available to Facebook in reaction to a hard-hitting report detailing how Facebook harvests your data on your iPhone. It emerged that Facebook was paying users of all ages to share their personal data. Apple, no doubt fearing a share price plunge, promptly took away Facebook's toys.
[Airbus hit by data breach](
Airbus SE has announced that it was affected by a cyber attack that enabled access to employees' personal information. The aircraft manufacturer did stress that there was no impact on its production capabilities. Don't be changing your password anytime soon, in other words.
