Story of the Day
[Stealing the Crust II: All the players in a heinous SA mining fraud](
By Kevin Bloom
In what Daily Maverick suggested in February 2018 was the largest state-sanctioned, corporate-sponsored fraud in the history of Big Mining in democratic South Africa, an insight was provided into how 350,000 mostly unemployed members of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela were robbed of their inheritance. [Facebook pulls racist Trump ad](
Facebook has followed television news channels in pulling a racist ad by Donald Trump. In the short clip, Trump refers to members of the migrant caravan as "dangerous illegal criminals" among other things. Trump was quick to blame CNN for pulling the ad, except Fox News also opted not to run it. Even the Trump allies, it seems, have some limits.
[Most British keen to stay in EU](
The largest post-Brexit referendum survey has indicated that Britons would opt to remain by a significant margin: 54-46 to be exact. The online poll included 20,000 people but disclosed no margin of error. The results, however, were startlingly different to the initial 52-48 leave vote.
[Spice Girls announce reunion tour](
Every 30-something with MTV just squealed a bit internally. Yes, it is true, the Spice Girls are getting back together for a tour. The mega-famous pop star band will launch a comeback tour in 2019. Sadly it is just in the United Kingdom and Posh Spice won't join, but this is probably as good as it will get. Time to start cashing in those provident funds for tickets to London.
[Bill Gates to reinvent the toilet](
Microsoft co-founder and major philanthropist Bill Gates is aiming at your toilet. The billionaire is expecting to save $233-billion by redesigning a piece of plumbing that has remained largely unchanged for decades. Revealing several new designs, including one that converts your waste into hydrogen cells, Gates hopes to remove the hygiene risks associated with the toilet entirely.
