President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Dr Silas Ramaite as acting NPA National Director of Public Prosecutions as former boss Shaun Abrahams will spend the week clearing his office and conducting a handover. The journey to cleaning up the institution has only just begun.

Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a flaw in the chips that allow hackers to pry data from previously-considered secure "virtual vaults". Intel has been quick to release a software update, dubbed "Foreshadow", fixing this problem, so now might be the time to unpause your updates again.

Omarosa Manigault Newman's revealing of recorded conversations with Donald Trump has elicited a particularly petulant outburst from the president of the United States. Taking to Twitter, Trump labelled Manigault Newman as a "dog" and a "crazed lowlife". Now that's keeping it presidential.
[Angolan soldier jailed for shooting of child](
An Angolan sergeant has been convicted for the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy at a protest two years ago. Rufino Antonio was shot in the neck in what was meant to be a series of warning shots. A court in Luanda sentenced Jose Alves Tadi to 18 years in jail and a fine of $3,700.
[Mario Mandzukic calls it a day](
Croatian football hero Mario Mandzukic has announced his retirement. The 32-year-old made the announcement late on Tuesday, stating: "I gave my best for Croatia and I have contributed to the greatest success in Croatian football." Mandzukic would, however, remain at his club Juventus, making his retirement purely from international football.
