Sean Spicer, speaking about Donald Trump
Story of the Day
[Duduzane Zumaâs court appearance â the day fake news madness turned insane](
By Marianne Thamm
Even if Jacob Zumaâs son, Duduzane Zuma, was wearing a novelty shop rubber mask of FW de Klerk while driving his Porsche in the rain before it slammed into the back of a taxi on the M1 in 2014, resulting in the death of two women, a call on Thursday by a pop-up lobby group, Freedom For Duduzane, for FW de Klerk to be jailed instead, would be batshit crazy. The whole sorry exercise has also shown just how morally bankrupt whataboutism can be.

[Trump trashes Brexit plan](
Donald Trump has criticised Theresa May's Brexit plan in an interview with the Guardian. The plan, according to Trump, would "probably kill" trade deal prospects with the US. In addition, Trump praised ex-minister Boris Johnson for his potential to be a great prime minister. The Sentient Naartjie will be meeting May today in what can only be one of the most awkward setups in political history.
[Johnson & Johnson to pay billions for talc cancer scandal](
Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay $4.69-billion in damages relating to a series of lawsuits claiming that talc, or talcum, powder caused ovarian cancer. Twenty-two women and their families had alleged that using the powder - which contained asbestos - resulted in their cancer. The victims' lawyer argued that J&J had deliberately attempted to cover this up over 40 years.
[Emmys are coming for Game of Thrones](
The epic series based on George RR Martin's books has stormed the Emmy nomination event. GoT nabbed 22 nominations for categories ranging from best drama through to a number of technical awards. Although Netflix gained more overall nominations, it was Game of Thrones that took all the initial attention.
[Half of America trying to lose weight](
Roughly half of all American adults are trying to shed a few pounds. A study published by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that 56% of women and 42% of men had tried to lose weight in the past 12 months. With obesity rates hovering around 40% overall, one hopes that the Twinkies lose out to the kettlebells a little faster.
