Cows come home as Hawks raid Magashule's office

[Daily Maverick] AFTERNOON THING with JOHN STUPART TGIF, 26 January 2018 WHILE YOU WERE WORKING [Magashule and Zwane in Hawks' crosshairs]( ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule and Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane have become the focus today of a series of raids by the Hawks. The search and seizure operations centred around the Free State Premier's office - a post Magushule still holds - and the Agriculture Department in connection with "that" Gupta-linked Dairy farm. Without an ace up his sleeve, it appeared as though the ANC's new big cheese is taking no skimming off the top. [No pardon for Zuma - Ramaphosa]( Continuing with the theme of flushing down the bad in the ANC, party president Cyril Ramaphosa was recorded in a BBC interview as stating that there would be no amnesty for President Jacob Zuma. Ramaphosa stated after the question on Zuma gaining a Presidential pardon: "We have the rule of law in our country and people always want to see justice done without fear, without favour." Shaun Abrahams, it seems, has suddenly found plenty to get busy with today. [Trump sends 'warmest regards' to Africa]( President Donald Trump has issued his "warmest regards" via Rwandan President Paul Kagame on the sidelines of Davos. Talking to the African Union chairperson, Trump appeared eager to walk back his remarks about Africa being part of his "shithole countries" list. South African businessman Bonang Mohale and dozens of other colleagues planned to boycott Trump's Friday afternoon speech. [Federer praises Chung as a future great]( Roger Federer heaped the praise on Chung Hyeon today, after the South Korean retired from play with blisters on his feet. Federer was 6-1, 5-2 up before Chung's retirement. Federer stated: "I think he is already a great player, but we are talking next level excellence and I think he will achieve that."
