[Daily Maverick] AFTERNOON THING with JOHN STUPART Tuesday, 23 January 2018 With the passing of Hugh Masekela, another of South Africa’s true legends has left us. Contradicting statements and a tiff with her translator were all the orders of the day for Dlamini, who insisted yet again on speaking only in Zulu. An entirely separate inquiry will be required to find what scraps of shame Dlamini might have left. [US solar distributors' back against the wall]( American businesses selling Chinese and South Korean solar panels are expected to take a major knock in a new "America first" tariff policy. President Donald Trump approved tariffs of roughly 30% on solar panel imports and over 50% on washing machines, the majority of both originating from China and South Korea. With American producers in no way ready to make up the manufacturing shortfall, the race is on to match job losses with new opportunities. [Metrorail train derails in Benoni]( Another week, another train debacle. This time a train derailed in Benoni this morning. No injuries were reported, but this is the second derailment in a week for Metrorail. Train rides, it seems, are not just vulnerable to massive delays anymore.
