Security Branch thugs were to blame, but those who could plausibly face justice are, it seems, already dead. Judge Billy Mothle stated that Timol was tortured and beaten from the day of his arrest to the day of his murder. Although the case is largely closed, the Timol judgment served as a present reminder of the outright evil that pervaded the apartheid security state. [Cyril must send Zuma to Nkandla - Gordhan]( Former finance minister Pravin Gordhan has called for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, once he has won the elective conference, to send President Jacob Zuma to live in Nklanda. Speaking at a conference in Cape Town today, Gordhan opted to state his preference for Cyril as the next ANC president. Gordhan also cautioned that the Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma faction could become immensely disruptive at the end of year conference should they suspect a possible loss to Ramaphosa.
