The Supreme Court will decide whether Trump can be disqualified from the Colorado primary ballot. Sign the petition now to demand that Justice Clarence Thomas recuse himself from the Trump ballot case and all cases related to January 6 due to his conflict Dear friend, Colorado's Supreme Court has disqualified Donald Trump from the presidential ballot, determining that he incited an insurrection before and during January 6. Promptly afterwards, Trump appealed the decision, and the Supreme Court announced that they will take the case to decide whether he can appear on the Colorado ballot.1 For nearly a year, MoveOn members have been calling for election officials in each state to keep Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution clearly states that any person who has taken an oath of office and then participates in insurrection is disqualified from taking office again. This includes Donald Trump. This Supreme Court case will have major consequences for this election. So it's vital that it's decided fairly—which means without Justice Thomas. [Click here to sign the petition to demand that Thomas recuse himself NOW.]( [SIGN NOW]( The U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment is unambiguous, and the evidence that Trump engaged in insurrection is clear. Our top election officials must honor their oath to uphold the Constitution. [Add your name to the petition to help make sure Trump feels the consequences of his traitorous actions.]( [SIGN NOW]( For the Supreme Court to consider these cases with any impartiality, it's critical that justices with conflicts of interest recuse themselves. That applies first and foremost to Justice Thomas, whose own wife played a role in Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Justice Thomas has a clear conflict of interest related to this case. And the Supreme Court’s new code of ethics even says that a justice should not allow family, social, political, and other relationships to influence their official conduct or judgment.2 Evidence revealed in 2022 shows that Ginni Thomas texted Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows—as well as legislators in Wisconsin and Arizona—urging them to overturn the election results. And she even attended the Stop the Steal rally on January 6.3,4,5 [Will you sign the petition to demand that Justice Thomas recuse himself from the Trump ballot case and all cases related to January 6?]( [SIGN NOW]( The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments for the Trump ballot case on February 8.6 It’s crucial that we raise the pressure now and demand that Justice Thomas recuse himself from this case immediately! Although Justice Thomas refused to recuse himself from the Supreme Court case involving his wife and January 6 records, it’s clear that he’s feeling the pressure now. Justice Thomas recently recused himself from a case regarding Trump’s former lawyer John Eastman's attempt to appeal the House Jan. 6 select committee's ability to access his emails.7 This is progress. But it’s not enough. We have to keep pushing. [Add your name to demand Justice Thomas recuse himself from all cases related to January 6 and Trump’s eligibility to run for president.]( [SIGN NOW]( Supreme Court corruption is out of control. The newly introduced ethics code is a step in the right direction to stop outside influence on the court, as would be Justice Thomas recusing himself from these cases. But it's not enough, so we will keep working to rebalance the court, pursue impeachment of corrupt justices, and pass other reforms that restore the integrity of our judicial system.
