Friend, Republicans will stop at nothing to protect the wealthiest from paying their fair share. Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson is blatantly cutting IRS funding to protect the ultra-rich at the expense of the working class. We need Democrats to stand firm. [Sign the petition: Demand no more funding cuts to the IRS.]( [Sign the petition]( In 2022, we secured a crucial $80 billion investment in the IRS over 10 years, a move that promised to level the playing field by providing the resources to go after wealthy tax cheats. This funding has already yielded significant benefits, [improving]( IRS services and cracking down on those tax cheats. Yet, to raise the debt ceiling, Democrats agreed to cut $20 billion from this investment, and now, sensing an opportunity, Republicans are pushing for even more cuts in the upcoming government funding bills. To cover up their plan to protect the wealthiest Americans over the working class, the GOP spouts that cutting IRS funding is about fiscal responsibility. That is a lie. For every dollar [invested]( in the IRS, we see a $22 return. Reducing this funding means less revenue and a higher federal deficit, which Republicans could use as a pretext to slash vital programs like Social Security and Medicare. We must act now to preserve the progress we've made and continue building a tax system that works for everyone, not just the privileged few. [Sign the petition: Demand Congress oppose IRS budget cuts that disadvantage working families and give a free pass to wealthy tax cheats.]( [Sign the petition]( Keep fighting, Romario Brown, Daily Kos Daily Kos needs you now more than ever We are falling behind our projections for two of our three major revenue streams: advertising and list building.
