I need to be honest with you, Friend: I haven't been paying attention to Trump. I know I'm not alone, but whether we like it or not, we all need to start paying attention. More importantly, we need to get serious about making sure he never gets near the White House ever again. He would pour money into sweeping raids, mass deportations, and [detention camps](. - Remember the "lock her up" chants from the 2016 campaign trail? During Trump's first administration he constantly tried to weaponize the Department of Justice to go after his political rivals. Now he is doubling down on his threats to [target and indict]( those that he considers a threat to his power. - In his now [infamous Veteran's Day speech]( in which he called to “root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, lie, steal, and cheat on elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American dream"—echoing the rhetoric of dictators like Mussolini and Hitler. All of this, and so much more, scares the hell out of me. I know many of us are hoping that our legal system will convict him and send him to prison, but too many of his followers don't care and will vote for him regardless of any convictions. It gets worse: He is, by far, the Republican frontrunner for the presidential nomination and some polls have him beating Biden in key swing states. We need to start building our campaign for 2024 RIGHT NOW. Daily Kos has a long and successful history of supporting Democrats up and down the ballot, in every corner of the country. In 2020, Daily Kos recruited over 111,000 volunteers from our community of grassroots activists to help turn out the vote using innovative tools and a wide variety of proven get out the vote methods. If we want to stop Trump and a Republican fascist takeover, we need to do better than we did in 2020. We can't take anything for granted when it comes to the 2024 election, that means we need to start organizing RIGHT NOW.
