Friend, the hazards of fracking can be life-threatening: [drinking water contamination](, [air pollution](, and [increased health risks](, including among children. Fracking [exploits]( our most vulnerable communities. And fracking is rapidly accelerating climate change. [Sign the petition: Our health and environment are at risk – ban fracking immediately.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Fossil fuel corporations continue to speed up the pace of new fracking projects. We need our elected officials to step up, stop new fossil fuel development, and stop fracking for good. Congress must initiate a just transition away from fracking. [Sign the petition to Congress: Ban fracking now!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for all you do, Erin Tulley, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier calling on Congress to ban fracking: --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, [sign the petition: Our health and environment are at risk – ban fracking immediately.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( For years the oil and gas industry has widely promoted the lie that fracking is “safe,” yet the evidence proves the opposite. Fracking leads to increased water waste, earthquakes, direct impacts to our health–including [increases]( of leukemia in children–and contributes to our ever-warming planet just like other dirty fossil fuels. Fracking is more expensive, dirtier, and [more dangerous]( than clean, renewable energy. Fracking is a key contributor to our climate emergency, and it is destroying our communities–disproportionately impacting communities of color–our health, and our environment. And it’s [depleting]( America’s groundwater. Fracking wells have increased their water usage sevenfold since 2011 and have used up nearly 1.5 trillion gallons of water. We are already facing a [groundwater crisis]( and threats to our drinking water supplies. Fracking only continues to exacerbate that. [Sign the petition: Ban fracking now!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Previously, Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Fracking Ban Act that would ban fracking nationwide by 2025 and immediately prevent federal permits from being issued for new fracking, new pipelines, new natural gas or oil export terminals, expanded fracking, and other oil and gas infrastructure. We’re calling on Congress to reintroduce and pass the Fracking Ban Act–for our health and for the well-being of the planet.
