Friend, good news and bad news out of Wisconsin as it relates to to stop the impeachment of democrat

Friend, good news and bad news out of Wisconsin as it relates to [our campaign]( to stop the impeachment of democratically elected Justice Janet Protasiewicz. Bad news: Wisconsin Republicans just [voted to fire]( the state's election administrator. Why? She wouldn't indulge their fantasy that the 2020 presidential election was "stolen." This proves that they are sore losers who will go after any government official standing in their way. Good news: Their stunt is backfiring, big time. A [new poll shows]( that Wisconsin voters reject impeaching Justice Janet by an overwhelming 24-point margin. Republicans are feeling the heat: One State Assembly member said he didn't vote for her, but [opposes impeachment](. [Sign the petition: Wisconsin believes in democracy. Do not impeach Justice Janet.]( [Sign the petition]( Keep fighting, Paul Hogarth, Daily Kos P.S. Our friends at the Wisconsin Democratic Party are keeping tabs on where members of the State Assembly stand on impeachment. [Check out their website here.]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, I am angry. Back in April, Wisconsin voters overwhelmingly elected Justice Janet Protasiewicz to the state Supreme Court. But before she can try a single case, some Republicans now want to [impeach her](. And with the Republicans' rigged majority in the Wisconsin state legislature, they could have the votes to make it happen. We need to put pressure on them. So far, [one Republican]( in the State Assembly is on record opposing the impeachment. But we need to do more. [Sign the petition: Wisconsin believes in democracy. Do not impeach Justice Janet.]( [Sign the petition]( When voters elect someone, politicians can’t overturn the election just to stay in power. That idea is fundamental to American democracy, a shared understanding around which our government is based. Daily Kos volunteers worked hard to get Justice Janet elected, and we now finally have the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the hands of the people. But Republicans have a supermajority in the state legislature because of extremely rigged maps, and a lawsuit has been filed to challenge their gerrymander. In order to protect their power, Wisconsin Republicans now want to prevent Justice Janet from ruling on this lawsuit. Former Gov. Scott Walker [made it clear]( as he advised his fellow Republicans: “If she does not remove herself from the [gerrymandering] case, the State Assembly should vote to impeach." [Sign the petition: Scott Walker's legacy cannot live on. Do not impeach Justice Janet](. [Sign the petition]( What some Republicans are proposing is virtually unprecedented. No Wisconsin judge has been impeached since 1853, when legislators removed a Milwaukee circuit court judge for bribery. Today, it's simply because they are unhappy that their gerrymander is in jeopardy. Our pressure is working, as now one Republican in the state Assembly [has come out]( against impeachment. "The people of Wisconsin have historically shown that they do not support uprooting a duly elected official on the sheer basis of political disagreement," said Rep. Scott Johnson. "Our court has shifted in a new direction, which is the consequence of an election." But with the [rigged maps](, we need much more than one Republican to side against this ultra-partisan charade. Justice Janet was elected by an 11-point landslide. Every single legislator owes it to tell their constituents where they stand on impeachment. [Sign the petition: Wisconsin believes in democracy. Do not impeach Justice Janet.]( [Sign the petition]( Keep fighting, Paul Hogarth, Daily Kos P.S. If you live in Wisconsin, please also [send a personal message]( to your legislators.
