Friend, the rule of law depends on public trust. Right now, as Americans are fed a steady diet of misinformation and conspiracy theories, public trust in our judiciary is at an all-time low. Transparency is our best defense against corruption and disinformation. [Sign the petition: Televise the Trump trial.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( An estimated 20 million people [watched]( the first prime-time hearing of the House Select Committee's investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in 2022. Another 18 million people watched the final hearing. These numbers rival Sunday Night Football and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. As a result, millions of Americans saw with their eyes the damning evidence that Trump and his MAGA co-conspirators orchestrated and attempted a coup to stay in power. Providing Americans with a front-row seat changed the course of history. Trump's trial for attempting to overturn the 2020 election will have far-reaching consequences, no matter the verdict. We need to see the strength of the evidence and that the trial is conducted fairly. Televising it will ensure everyone—from Trump's legal team to the judge and jury—behaves and will help to legitimize the result for the American public. [Sign the petition: Televise the Trump trial.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Keep fighting, Monique Teal, Daily Kos Read more about the call to televise Trump's 2020 election interference trial below. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, [sign the petition: Televise the Trump trial.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Public transparency is our best defense against corruption and disinformation. As the case against Donald Trump goes to court for his illegal actions around January 6–including conspiracy to violate civil rights, conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding–the American public must have full access to the unprecedented trial. This trial has extraordinary national importance to our democratic institutions. For the nation to fully accept the outcome, it will be vitally important for us to witness the proceedings. Otherwise, many will learn about the events through the potentially biased reporting of certain media. [Sign the petition: Televise the Trump trial.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Currently, a federal rule forbids televising federal courts. But House Democrats are [calling]( (PDF) for an exception in the name of public trust, urging the Judicial Conference–the national policy making body for the federal courts–to authorize the broadcast of United States of America v. Donald J. Trump court proceedings. Public trust in our judiciary is at an all-time low. Deep state conspiracy theories flood social media to distract from Trump’s true crimes. To ensure public trust and faith in the judicial system, and this trial specifically, the public must be allowed to view and listen to Trump’s upcoming trial. [Sign the petition to the Judicial Conference: Allow the Trump trial to be televised for full public transparency and trust in this judicial process.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for all you do, Erin Tulley, Daily Kos 🔥 Sign this petition!
