Friend, “I'll vote for President Trump even if he's in prison…” Marjorie Taylor Green

Friend, “I'll vote for President Trump even if he's in prison…” [claimed]( Marjorie Taylor Greene. The GOP defense of Trump’s alleged crimes really knows no bounds. And that’s very dangerous. [Tell the GOP: Stop defending Donald Trump.]( [Sign the petition]( Defending Trump not only demonstrates a complete disregard for our democracy–as GOP extremists are defending him against his plans to overthrow our government–it could lead to violence and once again incite terror. Rep. Andy Biggs, one of the chief promoters of the “Big Lie”, [tweeted]( “We have now reached a war phase. Eye for an Eye.” Gubernatorial-loser Kari Lake [declared]( “I have a message tonight for Merrick Garland and Jack Smith and Joe Biden — and the guys back there in the fake news media … If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and 75 million Americans just like me. And most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA. That’s not a threat, that’s a public service announcement.” GOP extremists are playing at incitement and intimidation and it cannot continue! Their attempts at a “second civil war” prove their defense of Trump equates to blind loyalism to a riot-inciting, power-hungry fascist. Their defense not only undermines the very foundation of this country’s democracy, it could lead to violence. STOP! [Add your name: Tell Republicans to stop defending Donald Trump.]( [Sign the petition]( Thanks for all you do, Erin Tulley, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier calling on the GOP to stop defending Trump: --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, [sign the petition: MAGA Republicans are complicit with Donald Trump's crimes if they continue to defend him.]( [Sign the petition]( Donald Trump's third felony indictment in four months—that he, among other things, defrauded the United States by pushing known falsehoods of the 2020 election and incited a violent insurrection on January 6—is the most serious yet. But Republicans continue to blindly put party above the good of the country: - Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other House Republicans [laughably claim]( that this is all a distraction from their investigation of Hunter Biden. - Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene [called it](a "political assassination" and equated the Biden Administration with a "communist regime." - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis [called it the]( "politicization of the rule of law," while admitting that he had not read the indictment. [Sign the petition to all Republicans: Stop defending Donald Trump.]( [Sign the petition]( As [Peter Wehner]( [wrote in the]( Atlantic Monthly: "there was a time when even a fraction of Donald Trump’s record of lawlessness and depravity would have shattered a person’s political career, rendered his party ashamed of its association with him, and left him humiliated and seeking forgiveness. But that day is long gone, at least if you’re a Republican." What Donald Trump did—attempting to overthrow an election—threatens the very foundation of our democracy, and is likely treasonous behavior. MAGA Republicans rushing to his defense proves how little they respect our government or democracy. During the Watergate scandal, Barry Goldwater [led a delegation]( of Republicans to the White House to inform President Richard Nixon that he had lost support in Congress. The very next day, Nixon resigned. Can you imagine Republicans today having the integrity to cut loose Donald Trump, putting country above their partisan loyalty? They are being complicit.
