Friend, if your email inbox is anything like mine, it fills up with hyperbolic fundraising pleas about the sky falling if you don't give $3 right now. At Daily Kos, we will always be honest with you about our financial situation. And the truth is that so far, 2023 has been one of our hardest years. Daily Kos relies on three different sources of revenue: community fundraising, advertising, and list building, in which Democratic and progressive campaigns pay for the opportunity to make their case to our readers over email. Unfortunately, last year we were hit by a perfect storm as two of these three sources started lagging behind their projections. We were forced to make deep financial cuts and make other changes in hopes of improving our revenue. Finally, after months of struggling, we are starting to see the impacts of those changes, but we aren't out of the woods yet. Now more than ever before, Daily Kos is relying on donations from our readers and activists to power our work. Grassroots donations of just a few dollars now account for over half of our revenue while advertising and list building account for a fraction of what they used to. [Can you please support progressive, independent news and activism with a $5 donation whatever amount is meaningful to you.]( [DONATE]( Thank you for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
