Friend, another day, another ethics scandal involving right-wing groups with interests before the Supreme Court. [Sign if you agree: The nation's highest court should be held to the highest ethical standards.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( A new ProPublica [report]( revealed that Justice Samuel Alito took a $100,000 private jet trip to Alaska on billionaire donor Paul Singer’s dime. Alito's failure to include the trip on his annual financial disclosures may have violated a federal law requiring justices to disclose most gifts. Singer repeatedly had interests before the Court in the years following the trip. Alito never recused himself. Sen. Dick Durbin, chair of the Judiciary Committee, [announced]( that his committee will take up legislation to impose ethics reform on the Supreme Court. “The Supreme Court is in an ethical crisis of its own making due to the acceptance of lavish gifts from parties with business before the Court that several Justices have not disclosed,” Durbin tweeted. Conservative justices—and their right-wing billionaire buddies—undermine the Court's legitimacy with their repeated ethical lapses, and disregard for precedent, the rule of law, and the will of the American people. It's time for Congress to finally enact a code of ethics for the Supreme Court. [Sign the petition to Congress: Stop the corruption! The Supreme Court must be made to follow basic ethics standards.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Keep fighting, Monique Teal, Daily Kos Before you leave, can you do one more thing? 2023 has been a hard financial year for Daily Kos.
