Friend, did you know that Daily Kos is run by the CIA? Neither did I, and I am the founder of Daily Kos. [According]( to "Democratic" candidate for president Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and his non-profit, the Children's Health Defense, the CIA has been controlling top liberal news outlets like the Daily Beast, Rolling Stone, Salon, and yes, Daily Kos. The Daily Kos staff and I got a good laugh at this, but let's get serious for a minute because Kennedy is a longtime conspiracy theorist anti-vaxxer and anti-masker whose lies and anti-science rhetoric have fueled the anti-vaccine movement. And this guy is suing Daily Kos. [Daily Kos is now in the second year of defending a frivolous lawsuit filed by Kennedy to unmask one of community users. Please support our ongoing fight with a monthly donation of $5.]( [If you can't commit to a monthly donation, please make a one-time donation of $5 to support our work.]( A study by [The Center for Countering Digital Hate]( (PDF) found that just a dozen people are responsible for 65% of the COVID-19 disinformation being spread on social media platforms, and that Kennedy and his organization, Children's Health Defense, were the second biggest offenders. [Kennedy is suing Daily Kos]( to unmask a community user that wrote about Kennedy attending an anti-vaxx, anti-mask rally in Berlin that was organized, promoted and largely attended by neo-Nazis. It's not just the Daily Kos user that reported this—it was literally translated from a German paper's account of the rally. CBS News, the New York Times, the Irish Times and Reuters all reported a similar account of the rally being organized by right-wing extremist groups like the AFD party, the neo-Nazi NPD party and various other anti-Semitic conspiracy groups. For over two years, Daily Kos has been fighting Kennedy's frivolous lawsuit to protect the privacy of our community and our First Amendment rights. We are now awaiting an appeal and we expect expenses for this fight to increase significantly again once the next phase begins. [We refuse to back down from Kennedy's bullying, but this fight is getting expensive and, unfortunately, two of our major revenue streams have fallen behind our projections. Meanwhile, Kennedy has a major family fortune on which he can draw. Help fund our defense against Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., a dangerous, life-threatening conspiracy theorist and make sure that we continually have the resources to debunk the lies that go unchecked in the mainstream media by donating $5 a month to Daily Kos.]( [If you can't commit to donating monthly, a one-time donation of $5 will support our work in debunking lies.]( Thank you, Markos Moulitsas, Founder Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
