The challenges have been varied, whether it is internet behemoths like Facebook, Apple, Amazon and Google sucking up an ever greater share of digital advertising revenue, the shift of audience engagement across platforms, the COVID pandemic, or the uncertainty of the economy. Some news media companies have not survived. Daily Kos has been insulated to these challenges, but not immune. So far, 2023 has been one of our hardest years. We knew that going into the year that we would be operating at a loss for the first quarter, that our expenses would be more than our revenue. Unfortunately, our actual revenue lagged behind our projections, digging an even deeper financial hole. We were forced to make deep financial cuts and make other changes in hopes of improving our revenue. Finally, after months of struggling, we are starting to see the impacts of those changes. March revenue performance was more in line with expectations. We missed our forecasts by $26,000. We are also aware that much of our advertising and list building revenue will come in the second half of 2023 as we head into the 2024 election year. We are not out of the woods yet.
