Friend, the work Daily Kos does every day lies at the crossroads of delivering the news and providing the avenues to take effective action on that news. There is no other organization out there that does the work we do. As I mentioned in the email below, even though support from our community has been strong this year, we have fallen behind our other revenue goals. This means that we need to rely more and more on Daily Kos readers and activists to give what they can so we can make ends meet. [If Daily Kos were to disappear, there is nothing that can replace our work because no one else does the work we do. Friend, please support Daily Kos with a donation of $5 today.]( [DONATE]( Thank you for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, I usually have to write these types of emails at the end of the month, but this is really important. [This year has gotten off to a rough financial start for Daily Kos. Our revenue is down and we need to lean more and more on our readers and activists to cover our expenses. Can you help by donating $5 right now?]( [DONATE]( Like most media outlets, Daily Kos once relied pretty much only on advertising revenue to cover all our budget costs. That is until internet behemoths like Google, Facebook, Apple and Amazon started sucking up a greater and greater share of digital advertising money. In 2022, these companies took in a [whopping 68%]( of the advertising revenue market. Like most media outlets, Daily Kos fell on some hard financial times and were facing some hard choices. However, unlike other media companies, we asked our readers and activists for help. We asked them to donate what they could to support progressive and independent news and activism. The response was so strong that we didn't just survive, but we thrived over much of the past decade. Unfortunately, Daily Kos is facing yet another challenging financial time Over the years we have been able to avoid many of the hardships that other media outlets faced because we diversified our sources of revenue. Daily Kos relies on three sources of revenue: community fundraising, advertising, and list building, in which Democratic and progressive campaigns pay for the opportunity to make their case to our readers. So far this year, both advertising and our list building efforts have been falling behind our needed projections and we have had to rely more and more on support from our readers and activists to cover our budget expenses. [Friend, I'm writing to you today to ask for your help yet again. Can you support the work Daily Kos does day in and day out by making a donation of $5 today?]( [DONATE]( Thank you for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
