He [blames Democrats]( for not passing immigration reform, when his party—the Republican Party—obstructed action for years. George Santos is more than just a liar who lies about his past, lies about his mother and is under criminal investigation in Brazil. He's an opportunist who debases himself for the GOP. Everyone [wants him gone](. Eight Republican members of Congress have called on Santos to resign, and so has former House Speaker Paul Ryan. The Nassau County GOP (where he was elected) wants him gone, as do 82% of his constituents in New York's 3rd district. The only people keeping him in Congress are Kevin McCarthy and the GOP leadership, and their reason is purely cynical. They have a razor-thin majority, and can't afford to lose the seat. If Santos resigns (or gets expelled), there would be a special election in a district that Joe Biden won—which [means it could flip]( Democratic. Enough is enough.
