That ruling opened the door for unlimited corporate giving in our elections and crowding out the voices of everyday Americans in our democracy. The 2010 Supreme Court got it wrong, but Congress has the power to make this right. Congress can pass legislation to rein in the ridiculously outsized influence over elections corporations have, create greater government accountability, and make democracy work as well for the rest of us as they do for millionaires and billionaires. Nearly $16.7 BILLION was spent on the 2022 midterms. It should not take a pot of gold to elect leaders, nor to expect them to serve their constituents rather than big monied overlords.
