Friend, the [legitimacy]( of the Supreme Court is under heavy fire. And Clarence Thomas is further undermining the court's standing by disregarding [federal law]( with his open misconduct and marked conflicts of interest. [Sign the petition: Demand that Congress investigate Clarence Thomas’ conflicts of interest.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Justice Thomas continually participates in [cases]( in which his wife and his political allies have a vested interest, then dispenses rulings to prevent them from facing accountability. Ginni Thomas--Justice Thomas' wife--advocated to [overthrow]( the government by pressuring Arizona state lawmakers to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election. Yet Thomas recently [ruled]( to block enforcement of the Jan. 6th select committee's subpoena for records directly relating to that Arizona pressure campaign. We can't let Justice Thomas elude responsibility for unethical behavior that continues to tarnish our nation's highest court. There are no current penalties for Supreme Court justices who do not follow the law and abuse their power by flouting ethical rules. That must change if we hope to restore the court's tattered reputation. Justices should be held accountable for their actions. [Sign the petition: Demand that Congress investigate Clarence Thomas’ conflicts of interest.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Keep fighting, Mayra Souza, Daily Kos P.S. Below is an email we sent out earlier demanding that Congress hold Justice Thomas accountable: --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has repeatedly flouted ethical rules that all judges should follow. His wife was directly involved in a [pressure campaign]( to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election. Yet the staunchly right-wing Justice Thomas continues to rule on SCOTUS cases that directly impact the insurrection aftermath – a blatant conflict of interest. [Sign the petition: Demand that Congress investigate Clarence Thomas’ conflicts of interest.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Justice Thomas is not impartial. He has ruled multiple times on January 6 cases, recently voting to [prevent]( the Jan. 6 committee from obtaining essential records regarding Trump’s alleged involvement in changing the results of the 2020 presidential election. He also agreed to temporarily [block]( Senator Lindsey Graham from testifying before a Georgia grand jury for his alleged interference in the results of the 2020 presidential election. Clarence Thomas must be held accountable for his clear disrespect of ethical rules. The House Judiciary Committee recently [announced]( a hearing to investigate Operation Higher Court — a program initiated by far-right religious groups to influence justices — and politicking at SCOTUS. This is a start, but until SCOTUS justices are held to a binding code of ethics — like every federal judge in this country [except the nine justices]( of the Supreme Court — to prevent such conflicts of interest, we will continue to advocate for just that. [Sign the petition: Congress must investigate Clarence Thomas’ unethical behavior.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Keep fighting, Mayra Souza, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire backers like some right-wing media outlets.
