Friend, when Russia first invaded Ukraine in February, Putin was expecting a multi-day, quick assault on the country. Eight months later, the strength and resoluteness of the Ukrainian people and its army have proved too much for Putin's aggression with Russian troops having withdrawn from numerous previously-occupied territories. Unfortunately, the people of Ukraine have paid and continue to pay a costly price for their freedom. There are still an estimated [7.8 million refugees]( scattered across Europe. While Putin has withdrawn from some areas, he still bombards Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leaving many families facing what will likely be the [toughest winter]( of their lives. Since the war started, Daily Kos readers and activists have supported four charities that have never wavered in their efforts to help the people of Ukraine. Now more than ever, the people of Ukraine need our support. [A humanitarian crisis of this scale is in constant need of more resources. Please donate what you can to support four charities that are working on the frontline helping refugees and those displaced by the Russian violence: Razom for Ukraine, World Central Kitchen, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and Americares. All of these charities are providing the basic necessities for those in need.]( [DONATE]( Thank you for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
