Friend, candidates like Mark Finchem, running for secretary of state in Arizona, are not only hoping to rig future elections for Trump and his acolytes, but they are getting started now, without even being elected to office yet. [Finchem told Steve Bannon]( and his audience that Arizona "needs" to purge 55,000 people from the state's voter rolls. He made a plea for volunteers to go directly to the board of supervisors offices in 15 counties, with a list of names in hand and demand that they be removed from the voter rolls. This is frightening. Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg. A far right-wing group, Look Ahead America, has called for volunteers to ["audit"]( voter registration rolls in nine key swing states before the midterm elections. If they are unsuccessful now, they plan to use their "data" to challenge votes after the election. There are candidates just like Mark Finichman running to become secretary of state in Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, and Nevada. If these election deniers get elected to positions of secretary of stateâwhich oversee our electionsâthey will have the authority not to just purge voter rolls by the tens of thousands, but they can make it even harder for people to cast their ballot by limiting early voting, ballot drop off locations, automatic voter registration, and more. [This November, voters will determine whether Trumpian election deniers become secretary of state and gain the ability to subvert elections and gut voting rights. Please donate $1 each to Democrats Jena Griswold (CO), Bee Nguyen (GA), Jocelyn Benson (MI), Steve Simon (MN), and Cisco Aguilar (NV) to help protect democracy and prevent Trumpists from seizing control of our elections.]( [DONATE](

Amanda McKay, Daily Kos --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, U.S. Senate and House races tend to get the most attention, but if you really want to protect our voting rights and the foundation of our democracy, donating to secretary of state candidates is the biggest investment you can make. [This is exactly why Daily Kos has endorsed four Democrats running for secretary of state offices in Colorado, Michigan, Nevada, and Minnesota. You can donate $1 to each of their campaigns right now by clicking here.]( [DONATE](
Shortly after the 2020 elections, when he was desperately fishing around for ways to overturn his electoral defeat, Trump didn't call a governor, he made that infamous call to the secretary of state of Georgia, asking him to "find 11,000 votes." Trump knew exactly who held the power to help him overturn the 2020 elections results: secretaries of state. Now, in preparation for 2024, Trump is betting that electing his cronies to as many secretary of state positions as possible is his best chance of rigging the 2024 election. There are 17 Republican election deniers that are running for secretary of state, or for governor in states where the governor appoints the secretary. These 17 candidates are denying the results of the 2020 election, seeking to overturn them, or refusing to affirm the outcome. Outside of the voter fraud conspiracy theories and threats of rigging the next election, secretaries of state also determine who has access to the ballot box. In some states they decide the scope of voter roll purgesâjust as Brian Kemp did when he ran against Stacey Abrams in 2018. Secretaries of state can instruct counties on where and how many ballot drop boxes should be set up, implement policies for automatic voter registration, and help set the scope of early voting. Thatâs why Daily Kos has a plan. [We have endorsed a major slate of Democrats running in the most competitive contests for secretary of state this year, to ensure that we keep Trumpâs minions far, far away from the power to administer elections. These are all individuals of great integrity who share a universal desire to make voting as accessible and secure as possibleâand preserve our democracy in the face of the gravest threats. Please donate $5 right now to support their campaigns.]( [DONATE](
