Friend, we have an historic opportunity this year in two battleground states (Michigan & Pennsylvania) to finally flip their state legislatures blue—now that they are both freed from the shackles of a decades-long Republican gerrymander. And it will come down to a handful of district-level races that will be decided by a few hundred votes, where a small amount of money can make a decisive impact. [Chip in $1 to each of these Democratic candidates running for state legislature in Michigan and Pennsylvania. It will pay dividends way beyond the 2022 midterms.]( [Click to donate]( Michigan and Pennsylvania are swing states, but Joe Biden won them both in 2020—and Democrats have done very well there in state-level races. Both states have Democratic governors, and three of the four U.S. Senate seats have been in Democratic hands for years. But due to aggressive Republican gerrymanders, their state legislatures have been GOP-held for decades. Democrats have not even controlled the Michigan State Senate [since 1984](! However, thanks to court rulings and ballot measures, these gerrymanders were [finally broken this year](—giving us a rare opportunity to elect a legislature that truly reflects the will of the people. State legislatures are a "farm team" for future members of Congress, but they are more than that: they are also a laboratory of public policy ideas (good and bad)—and also a dangerous place for Republicans to play games with presidential elections. In both states, Trump-loyal Republicans threatened to send a competing slate of electors to overturn the popular vote. State legislative races are often won by a few hundred votes, and campaigns have small budgets. That's why a small influx of cash from grassroots donors can make a real difference. [Chip in $1 to each of these Daily Kos-endorsed Democratic candidates running for the state legislature in Michigan & Pennsylvania—and help us flip both chambers. That's twenty bucks for twenty candidates, which will pay dividends down the road.]( [Click to donate]( Thanks for all you do, Paul Hogarth, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
