Friend, it can be a little hard to keep track of the twists and turns in all of Trump's numerous legal problems, but here is one you probably missed: [eleven Republican state attorneys general]( filed an amicus brief defending Trump's theft of classified and top secret documents. [We must elect people who will actually do their job and uphold the rule of law. Daily Kos has endorsed a slate of Democrats running for attorney general in five key swing states. Can you help elect these candidates by donating $5—$1 to each of their campaigns?]( [DONATE]( Amicus briefs usually include relevant legal information. However, this particular amicus brief read more like an airing of grievances, touching on everything from immigration policy to the COVID pandemic, while mentioning little of relevance to the case at hand. It's scary to think about how the people who wrote this nonsense hold the highest law enforcement position in their states, and yet found the time to chime in in a case that has nothing to do with those states just to engage in a rambling defense of their almighty orange overlord from what are almost certainly criminal acts. We must elect Democrats who will actually do their job and uphold the rule of law. Attorneys general in the states have been, and will continue to be, crucial to holding the tide against Trump’s extremism. Unfortunately, we know whose side these eleven attorneys general would choose. [This is why Daily Kos has endorsed a slate of Democrats running for attorney general in five key swing states—candidates who will vigorously oppose Republican efforts to undermine our democracy while upholding our justice system. You can help elect these candidates by donating $5—$1 to each of their campaigns.]( [DONATE]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
