Justicesâ failure to avoid conflicts of interestâand the appearance of conflicts of interestâfurther undermines public trust in the Court at a time when its legitimacy is already a matter of significant public debate. Clarence Thomas must be held to account for flouting the ethical rules that apply to every other judge in the country. So, we are calling on the House and Senate Judiciary Committees to conduct an investigation into Thomasâ ethical misconduct, and also to follow up with legislation to enforce a binding code of ethics on the justices of our Supreme Court.
