Whenever Trump, McConnell, or any other right wing extremist in federal government failed to push their will down our throats, GOP-controlled state legislatures have taken up the mantle and passed regressive voter suppression, anti-abortion, transphobic, and racist laws. They have advanced a reactionary and prejudiced agenda state by state. But the tide is turning in Michigan. Voters stand a good chance of flipping the Michigan state Senate for the first time since 1984! This would give Democrats one more sorely needed state legislature, and build momentum nationwide for more state-based organizing and policy battles.
