Friend, the Supreme Court's ruling to end federal abortion rights is absolutely horrible and we refuse to go silently. [Please support Daily Kos' efforts to reinstate abortion protections for everyone by donating $5 a month.]( [If you can't donate monthly, a one-time donation of $5 will still help us in our fight.]( We need to be honest with ourselves and with those in power: this ruling did not come as a surprise. The right has been working for decades to reach this moment and their momentum grew in recent years. The successful blockade of President Obama's pick for the Supreme Court in 2016, Trump's Russia-fueled election, the confirmation of three anti-abortion justices—including one who was rushed to confirmation ahead of the 2020 election. Those three justices were all anti-abortion activists needed to end a person's safe and legal access to abortion care, and they're not stopping with the end of Roe. The same activists who built the right-wing supermajority on the Supreme Court are now pushing for more abortion restrictions in states and even a national ban. We are not backing down. We will use every tool available to fight for safe and legal abortion care for everyone: - Daily Kos readers and activists have been supporting [abortion funds]( in key states. These funds provide small grants or practical assistance for needs like housing, transportation, childcare, lodging, and translation services to people seeking abortion care. - We are also supporting independent [abortion clinics](. Independent providers care for the majority of people seeking abortion in the United States but don’t receive nearly enough attention, funding, or institutional support. - We need to bring our fight to the ballot box. Democrats need to retain control of both the Senate and the House, Daily Kos has been and will continue to raise money for pro-choice leaders in key states. We will continue to support grassroots organizations that are working in frontline communities to register, educate and turn out every voter. And we will recruit a record number of volunteers to Get Out the Vote in November. - But we can't wait four months for the next election, we are providing our readers and activists with the tools needed to take immediate action, like calling for the [expansion of the Supreme Court](, [impeach the justices]( that lied to congress under oath, ending the filibuster to [codify Roe](, [stand up to corporations]( that are funding forced-birther politicians, and petition the [USPS to protec](t the delivery of abortion medicine. [This will be a long battle to restore our rights. Friend, I am not only asking you to take action, but asking for your help to make sure Daily Kos has the resources needed for this expansive fight. Can you donate $5 a month?]( [If you can't donate monthly, a one-time donation of $5 will still help us in our fight.]( Keep fighting, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
