Friend, [sign the petition and demand President Biden create a Reparations Commission now!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( During the summer of 2020, America experienced a national reckoning around social justice and what it means to be Black in this country. That November, Black voters showed up to the polls all across the country in historic numbers, demanding that our elected leaders prioritize racial justice and atone for America’s original sin - slavery. US House Resolution 40 (H.R.) would establish a federal commission to examine the ongoing legacy of enslavement and recommend proposals to provide reparations. This measure has more support than it has ever had in its 32 year history. However, we know that even if the House passed this resolution, it would almost still fail in the hyper-partisan Senate. That’s why it’s time for President Joe Biden to step up and to establish a federal Reparations Commission now! Painting Black Lives Matter on streets is nice and adding Juneteenth as a federal holiday is cute, but if we really want to get serious on making progress on racial justice, then we have no time to waste. We must pass legislation that would repair the legacy of enslavement and the continuing injustices stemming from it.
