This one is for the introverts out there Friend, [click here to write letters to infrequent, but lean Democratic, voters in key House districts and Senate swing states with Vote Forward. I mean, I've still done it–a lot–starting with knocking on doors for Howard Dean in 2004, helping to canvass my neighborhood for John Kerry later that year, volunteering for some local and congressional elections in 2006, and then serving as my local precinct captain from 2006-2010. But man oh man, what I would have given back then for something like Vote Forward, where I could help turn out voters around the country without ever actually having to talk to anyone. Not having to ever talk to a voter is only part of the genius of Vote Forward, though. There are so many other great things about it, including that anyone can do it no matter where they live, that it is statistically proven to actually increase voter turnout, and that you can work from home on your own schedule. All you need to do is [sign up for (or log in to) Vote Forward](, adopt infrequent, but lean-Democratic, voters from one of the many Senate and House races we have featured on our Daily Kos Vote Forward page ([just click through and scroll down to see them](), and write those potential voters heartfelt letters about why you believe it is important for everyone to exercise their right to vote. Below, you can see a recent email I wrote you on this same topic. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, as the Executive Director of Daily Kos Activism, I believe in sending you get out the vote (GOTV) actions that will make an actual, measurable, concrete difference for Democrats and progressives. As an introvert, I am also eager to send you actions that allow you to make this positive difference in voter turnout without ever having to actually talk to anyone. Perhaps best of all, you never have to talk to anyone.]( [Sign up to write Get Out the Vote letters]( [Increase your impact: Donate $5 to Daily Kos to help us turn out as many Democratic voters as possible in 2022.]( Don't get me wrong–I believe that making phone calls, sending text messages, and knocking on doors are all important and necessary ways to help get voters to the polls. In fact, I have done all of these things on several occasions, and I intend to do them all more in the future. However, if I am being honest, the truth is that I don't want to talk to anyone else when I am turning out voters. What's more, I certainly do not want to talk to any strangers. It's not so much that I am afraid of talking to people I do not know–it's more like I worry about bothering them when they are at home and dealing with their own problems. Specifically, I worry that the last thing they want to deal with is a political solicitation from some stranger. That kind of potential awkwardness really, really makes me cringe. This is why I love Get Out the Vote letters with Vote Forward. Volunteers with Vote Forward can move through the entire process–which is statistically proven to increase voter turnout–without ever talking to a single person. [You can log-in to (or sign up for) Vote Forward](, scroll down the page a bit, adopt infrequent, Democratic-leaning voters in key states and congressional districts, write them letters about why you believe it is important to exercise your right to vote, and put those letters in the mail without ever having to directly talk to anyone at all. In fact, instead of potentially bothering anyone, what you end up giving them is something pretty cool (and, at least in these days, pretty rare): a handwritten letter from another person with a positive message in it. There are clearly a lot of other grassroots, progressive activists who, like me, love turning out voters without having to talk to anyone, because Vote Forward is by far the most popular GOTV activity of all time among the Daily Kos community. It really is the perfect get out the vote activity for introverts! The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
