Friend, [sign and send the petition and demand that Congress protect Black women and codify Roe v. Wade.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( If Roe v. Wade is overturned, experts believe that Black women, who predominantly reside in Southern conservative states, will have the most to lose. Most Southern states have already instituted “trigger laws” which would automatically restrict abortions [if Roe falls](, or are almost certain to pass new bans. We should be creating more points of access to a healthcare system that benefits all, instead of creating more barriers that would disproportionately affect people of color. The majority of Americans are opposed to overturning Roe v. Wade and Congress should listen to American people. Demand that Congress codify Roe v. Wade and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act immediately! [Sign and send the petition and demand that Congress protect Black women and codify Roe v. Wade.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Yours in the struggle, Marquese Averett, Daily Kos P.S. Please see my previous email below. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, earlier this week, a draft opinion from the Supreme Court was leaked by Politico, suggesting that the high court has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade - the 1973 landmark ruling that legalized abortion nationwide. This reversal would disproportionately affect historically oppressed communities, specifically Black women. [Sign and send the petition and demand that congress protect Black women and codify Roe v. Wade.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( About half of U.S. states have restrictive abortion laws set to go into effect should the reversal take place. Experts believe Black women, who disproportionately have trouble accessing health care, will be those most impacted. This reversal will be a disaster for those who already have barriers to health care. Being [denied]( access to reproductive freedom impacts family structures and makes it more difficult for people to escape poverty and pursue the career of their choice. It’s time that we pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade. WHPA passed the House and was blocked by Senate Republicans. The majority of Americans oppose Roe. v. Wade being overturned. It’s time to put pressure onto our Senators and demand they protect abortion rights. [Sign and send the petition and demand that Congress protect Black women and codify Roe v. Wade.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Yours in the struggle, Marquese Averett, Daily Kos Daily Kos Liberation League Relies on Activists Like You Half our revenue comes from readers like you, meaning we literally couldn't do this work without you.
