Friend, although labor laws have improved over the years, it hasn't improved enough to create a fair balance between labor and capital. [Sign this petition to President Biden: Expand worker power]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Labor's share of our national income--the amount of GDP paid out in wages, salaries, and benefits--has been declining since the 1980s. One of the steepest periods of decline in the United States happened in 2016, when the labor share of income dropped from 63.3 percent in 2000 to 56.7 percent. While certain aspects of labor have improved, much thanks to unions, the share of income workers receive steadily decreases. That means that less money is going towards paychecks for workers, and more money is going into the pocket of wealthy capitalists. This speech by a young shoemaker written in 1827 could describe the worker situation today, "We find ourselves oppressed on every hand--we labor hard in producing all the comforts of life for the enjoyment of others, while we ourselves obtain but a scanty portion, and even that in the present state of society depends on the will of employers." There are executive actions President Biden could take right now to make labor practices fairer. Join us in demanding he act now to protect workers.
