Friend, as Putin continues to justify his illegal and brutal war on Ukraine, he has found an ally in American media: Fox News's Tucker Carlson. A leaked [Kremlin-memo]( to state-sponsored Russian media outlets calls for direct use of Carlson: "It is essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin" As recently as two weeks ago, Carlson yet again pushed the conspiracy about bioweapons labs and Putin-friendly social media, like state-sponsored [RT](, Sputnik, and even the [Russian Embassy to Turkey](, pushed out the segment across the internet. As I said in the email below, the echo chamber between American far-right media outlets and Russian propaganda is dumbfounding and it's only getting worse. The big problem is that right-wing news media dwarfs progressive news outlets, with a huge reach and influence over the American population. Let's face it, as much as we want to, we will not push Fox News off the air. Fox News has been the highest rated cable news outlet for years, with Russian-sympathizer Tucker Carlson having the top show. It is no longer enough for progressive, independent media like Daily Kos to survive–in order to challenge right-wing outlets, we need to grow and thrive. Over the last few months we have been working to expand our news coverage and how you get your news, adding more [independent reporting]( and the addition of two podcasts: [The Brief]( and the [Downballot](. [Daily Kos is one of the biggest progressive news outlets in the country, but we need to be much, much bigger in order to more effectively debunk right-wing conspiracies. Small contributions from readers and activists like you are our biggest source of income. That's why I'm asking you to donate $5 to Daily Kos.]( [DONATE]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos --------------------------------------------------------------- Friend, the echo chamber between American far-right media outlets and Russian propaganda is dumbfounding. For the last few years, disinformation from Russia has been one of their most widely used weapons in their arsenal. Russia has attempted to justify their brutal illegal invasion of Ukraine with unfounded conspiracy theories about Nazis, ethnic Russian genocide and bioweapons research facilities that are funded by the United States. This is all nonsense, but that hasn't stopped conservative talking heads on outlets like Fox News, the Blaze, and the Daily Wire from [repeating]( these Russian lies to the American public. The lies about American-funded bioweapons facilities have even been [echoed]( by members of Congress like Senator Marco Rubio and Rep. Thomas Massie. The big problem is that right-wing news media dwarfs progressive news outlets, with a huge reach and influence over the American population. Fox News has been the highest rated cable news outlet for years, with Russian-sympathizer Tucker Carlson having the top show. With more and more people getting their news from social media, you can often find posts from Ben Shapiro, Dan Bongino, and Sean Hannity with the highest engagement rates. Daily Kos is one of the biggest progressive news outlets in the country, but we need to be much, much bigger in order to more effectively debunk right-wing conspiracy theories that threaten our health, our democracy, and even the future of our planet.
