Friend, Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee opened Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing by whining about their own "treatment" during the hearings of past justices; in particular that of accused sexual assaulter Brett Kavanaugh. Unfortunately, their behavior only went downhill from there. During the marathon questioning, Judge Jackson faced questions from Republican senators about the definition of the word ["woman,"]( whether or not babies are [born racists](, her [religious beliefs]( and of course, a deep dive into [QAnon conspiracy theories]( of child pornography. To top it all off, this weekend, even though admitting that Judge Jackson is both "very intelligent" and "clearly qualified," Minority Leader Mitch McConnell [announced]( that he will not vote to confirm Judge Jackson. Why? Because when asked if she supports expanding the court and applying term-limits to justices, she said she would not take a position on those issues. Keep in mind this is the same answer that Justice Amy Coney Barrett took and McConnell not only voted for her confirmation, but as Majority Leader at the time, he rushed Barrett through the Senate at breakneck speed. It doesn't matter what you call Republican senators' circus-like questioning. Whether it was partisanship, two-faced, hypocritical lying, or just pure racism, it's clear that these Republicans don't have the best interests of our country and our judicial system in mind. I shudder at the thought of them retaking the ability to confirm or deny judicial nominees. [Help keep Republicans out of power.
