Friend, the Supreme Court constantly rules on issues that disproportionately affect the Black community, yet Black women have never been represented on the bench in the court's 200+ year history. Now we have that opportunity with President Biden's nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. [Sign the petition to the U.S. Senate: Confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court without delay.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
Judge Jackson has worked fiercely to shape criminal justice policy and reduce sentences for individuals incarcerated for drug offenses. That's the perspective our current ultra-conservative majority on the Supreme Court needs. Her career demonstrates her lifelong commitment to civil rights, and her time on the federal benchâincluding her six hundred opinions written while on the D.C. District Courtâprovides us with a wealth of evidence that she is deeply dedicated to equal justice for all. This is a historic pick that will bring balance to the court. The Senate must confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson without delay! Friend, [sign the petition to the U.S. Senate: Confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court without delay.]( [SIGN THE PETITION](
President Biden has nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court. This is a historic nominationâof the 115 justices who have served on the Supreme Court bench, 108 have been white men. There has never been a Black woman on the bench, and there have only been three justices of color in the courtâs entire history. The Supreme Court routinely rules on cases that disproportionately impact Black womenâsuch as the freedom to vote, abortion access, prisons and policing, housing, and LGBTQ+ rightsâand the lack of representation on the bench is glaring. We must confirm Judge Jackson as soon as possible in order to ensure representation on the bench. Soon, the Senate Judiciary Committee will conduct a confirmation hearing. Then, the full Senate will take a vote. We are calling on the SJC and the Senate to not delay a confirmation. Judge Jackson is eminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court. In June 2021, the Senate confirmed her to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, largely seen as the second most powerful court in the country. Previously, she served on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for eight and a half years. Judge Jackson has been confirmed three times by the Senateâtwice unanimously, and all with bipartisan support. Prior to her time on the bench, Judge Jackson served as a federal public defender, as well as the vice chair of the Sentencing Commission, where she worked to shape criminal justice policy and reduce sentences for individuals incarcerated for drug offenses. Her career demonstrates her lifelong commitment to civil rights, and her time on the federal benchâincluding her six hundred opinions written while on the D.C. District Courtâprovides us with a wealth of evidence that she is deeply dedicated to equal justice for all. This is a historic nomination. There is no reason for a ânoâ vote or delays of any kind. We are demanding the Senate ensure that by confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson without delay!
