Friend, [sign and send to your U.S. senators: Confirm Biden's Supreme Court nominee in order to help prevent gun violence.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( The Supreme Court constantly rules on issues that disproportionately affect the Black community, yet Black women have never been represented in the Court’s 200+ year history. Gun violence is one of those issues. [Black women]( die from gun-related partner abuse at a higher rate than any other group. Black sons, brothers, and fathers are 10 times more likely to die from gun violence than their white counterparts. We need voices on the Court that reflect the communities impacted by their decisions the most. Our current laws have allowed school and mass shootings to become common in our modern society. We can’t allow that. There are steps we can take now, such as implementing common sense gun laws, that could confront the violence, but we need a Supreme Court that is willing to uphold those laws. A progressive, open-minded nominee on the Court is our best hope of living in a country where children feel truly safe going to school. A diverse pick is essential towards countering the majority-conservative opinions making up the current Court. If we hope to tackle the gun violence epidemic currently terrifying the country, we need representation from Black women on the Supreme Court.
