Friend, in 2021, Republican state legislators proposed over with the intention to limit voting right

Friend, in 2021, Republican state legislators proposed over [440 bills](with the intention to limit voting rights. Of those, 34 became law in 19 states. That's the bad news. The worse news is that they aren't done yet. Most state legislatures are back in session right now. Republicans control 30 of those state governments, and they are back at finding ways to limit access to the ballot box. [The good news is that Daily Kos is prepared to fight to protect our democracy. We have an action plan to target specific states that are on the verge of passing voter suppression laws, but we need your support to execute our plan. Can you donate $5 to help us cancel Republican-sponsored voter suppression?]( [DONATE]( Daily Kos has a long history of fighting to protect and expand our voting rights. We will use all the tools available to make your voice heard and stop the state-sponsored threats to our democracy. We are currently targeting four states that have proposed legislation that would restrict voting rights: - Arizona: state republicans have introduced numerous bills with sole purpose to restrict voting access. Their[latest attempt]( is to undermine the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 by requiring proof of citizenship on top of the long list of federal requirements to register to vote. Republicans are hoping to keep this under the radar and pass it quickly. - Florida: our partners in the state need help to defeat a [harmful voting rights bill]( that includes Gov. DeSantis’ new “Office of Election Crimes & Security”, aka the Elections Police, to investigate voter fraud. It would also introduce new ID requirements to vote-by-mail, and exorbitant fine increases for organizations helping with voter registration. Legislative session ends in just a few weeks. - Ohio: lawmakers subversively passed a law that restricts partnership between election officials and community groups to register voters—threatening to reduce voting access throughout the state. - Wisconsin: there are a number of [anti-voter bills]( introduced just last week and Republicans are hoping they will be "fast-tracked." These bills address conspiracy theories about election fraud that never happened; they would make it harder to vote by mail, for those with disabilities to cast their ballots, to correct minor mistakes with absentee ballots, and limit those that oversee elections. [Swift action is needed to stop many of these states from passing laws that would limit voters' access to the ballot box this fall. Help Daily Kos efforts to block these bills from becoming law by donating $5.]( [DONATE]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
