Friend, as we approach the Senate’s anticipated holiday break, we must continue to keep the pressure on to pass the Build Back Better Act with social policies and investments in our communities intact, like paid family and medical leave. [Sign and send the petition to your U.S. senators: Don’t delay the vote! Keep paid family leave in the Build Back Better Act.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( The Build Back Better Act would provide up to four weeks of paid family and medical leave to U.S. workers, which would benefit new parents, caregivers, and people managing their own health conditions. The U.S. is far overdue for a federal paid family leave program—in fact, we’re the only industrialized country in the world without one—but this policy wouldn’t go into effect until 2024. The 77% of U.S. workers who don’t have paid family leave and 60% who don’t have medical leave need these policies now, not years from now. [Sign and send the petition to your U.S. senators: Keep paid family leave in the Build Back Better Act—and enact the policy ASAP, not in 2024.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( Paid leave isn’t just a good idea in theory. It would actively improve the lives of millions upon millions across the country, particularly women, low-income people, and Black and brown people, who are disproportionately impacted by caregiving responsibilities and the lack of a federal paid leave program. Paid leave would also benefit businesses. Such a policy would reduce turnover, increase worker productivity, loyalty, and morale, and eliminate hiring disadvantages smaller companies face when competing with larger companies that have leave benefits. [Sign and send the petition to your U.S. senators: The benefits are clear. Keep paid family leave in the Build Back Better Act.]( [SIGN AND SEND THE PETITION]( In solidarity, Sarah Hogg, Daily Kos Daily Kos Relies on Readers Like You We don't have billionaire backers like some right-wing media outlets.
