In 2021 so far, we've had 9 severe storms, 4 tropical cyclones, 2 flooding events, 1 combined drought and heat wave, 1 wildfire event, and 1 combined winter storm and cold wave. [They have taken more than 500 lives and cost over $100 billion just this year](. And this is the seventh consecutive year our country has had more than 10 disasters totaling more than a billion dollars. Although climate policies may seem like they cost a lot, clearly the cost of inaction is greater. If we wait to act on climate change, we will pay a much higher price, not just in dollars but in the cost of life.
