Friend, Wednesday evening Congress voted to censure Trump-loyalist Rep. Paul Gosar and remove him from his committee assignments for tweeting a video depicting him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Biden. He should have been expelled, but nonetheless, this was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, this is also a shameful moment for our country. [Rep. Lauren Boebert]( defended Gosar's act by attacking Democratic members of Congress with baseless accusations and conspiracy theories straight out of a QAnon fever dream. She did this on the House floor and her unfounded rant will forever be part of the Congressional record. It's bad enough that 207 Republicans voted against censuring Gosar, but some even patted him on the back and shook his hand [after]( the vote. Notably, more Republicans feel that the 13 GOP representatives that voted for the bi-partisan infrastructure bill should be [punished]( than believe Gosar should be held accountable for promoting a violent video showing him killing a Democratic representative. Can you imagine how Republicans will rule if they win control of the Senate and the House in the 2022 elections? If this scares you, it should. There are real consequences if Democratic voters don't turnout in the 2022 elections. We have less than one year to help Democrats hold on to their narrow majority in the Senate and House. Daily Kos has a long history of running successful Get Out the Vote campaigns, and doing so at scale. Unfortunately, over the last few months we have seen a sharp drop in donations; this is a critical problem considering nearly half of our operating budget comes from our readers and activists giving just a few bucks at a time. [That's why I am asking for your support, Friend. There is no doubt that Republicans will make the 2022 elections one of the ugliest in history, but we can rise above their fear-mongering by turning out the Democratic base. Daily Kos has repeatedly proven we can do this at scale, generating over 40,000 GOTV volunteer signups in 2016, 60,000 in 2018, and 110,000 in 2020. Can you support our efforts to get voters to the polls and elect more Democrats up and down the ballot by making a monthly donation of $5?]( [If you can't give monthly, a one-time donation will still support our efforts in 2022.]( Thanks for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
