Friend, like so many others appointed by Donald Trump, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's tenure has left one of the country's most beloved institutions vulnerable to corruption, scandals, and conflicts of interest. This can be remedied, and we can protect the USPS by removing DeJoy. But first, President Biden must remove DeJoy’s accomplices on the Board of Governors. [Sign the petition to President Biden: Replace Ron Bloom on the USPS Board of Governors, so they can fire Louis DeJoy!]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( The Postmaster General is voted in and out by, and reports to, the USPS Board of Governors (who are appointed by the president). Despite DeJoy's clear [conflicts of interest](, [alleged corruption](, and [mismanagement]( of the Postal Service, the Trump-appointed board lacks the votes to remove him. The chair of that board, Ron Bloom, who is also trailed by a [strong whiff of corruption](, has supported DeJoy's ten-year “Delivering For America” plan. The plan, which took effect on October 1, slows down delivery — yes, even during the end-of-year holiday season — reduces operating hours and workers’ hours, raises prices for the public, and closes processing plants. Thankfully, Biden can protect the Postal Service. Bloom's term expires on December 8. Currently, DeJoy has at least 6 of 9 votes in support of his remaining postmaster general. But Biden can nominate replacements for Ron Bloom and John Barger, whose terms have either expired or are about to expire, and the board’s composition could potentially switch to 5 of 9 governors willing to expel DeJoy. [Sign the petition to President Biden: Save the USPS. Take the necessary steps to fire Louis DeJoy by changing who sits on the USPS Board of Governors.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( DeJoy acted swiftly to undercut the Postal Service after taking office, enacting multiple policies to deliberately slow the mail. If left unchecked, his future plans will continue to undermine deliveries and raise postal rates. Rather than pushing back against disastrous policy proposals and ethical lapses, Bloom has empowered and enabled DeJoy. His tenure as Board chair has ushered in an era of inadequate service and a diminished reputation. DeJoy and Bloom have to go. They’re not just destroying the oldest and most beloved public institution in the nation, they’re doing it for personal profit — not even pretending to hide it! They should have been fired months ago for the gross mismanagement of the USPS, if not for the stench of corruption surrounding them.
